Making a Little Room for Yourself

There are seasons when caring for everyone else becomes so familiar that we forget to ask ourselves a simple question: What do I need today?

Perhaps it is a little quiet. Perhaps it is time to finish a cup of tea while it is still warm, write a few honest words, or sit outside without feeling that we should be doing something else.

Making room for yourself does not always begin with a grand change. Sometimes it begins with a small pause—and the decision to let that pause matter.

Begin with a few quiet minutes

Find a comfortable place and allow yourself a few minutes without a task to complete. Notice the light around you, the sounds nearby, and how you are feeling. You do not have to make the moment special or arrive with a peaceful mind.

If your thoughts turn to your list of responsibilities, that is understandable. You can return to them shortly. For now, give yourself permission to be here.

    A question for your journal

What have I been needing that I keep putting off—and what small kindness could I offer myself today?

Write whatever comes. A sentence is enough. You might notice a need for rest, companionship, creativity, or a clearer boundary. You do not need to solve everything on the page.

Let one small thing be enough

Choose something that feels possible today: a short walk, a few pages of a book, a conversation with someone you trust, or an earlier bedtime. Let it be an act of care rather than another standard to meet.

This is part of the heart behind Sacred Spirit Wellness: making space for those who give so much to others to receive care, too.

Welcome to this little corner for reflection. I look forward to sharing thoughts, questions, and gentle invitations to rest, renew, and reconnect.
